Fiber Art Incorporating Textiles, Mixed media and Encaustic
The fiber art from this period was impacted by my surface design training and incorporated mixed media, fiber, textiles, and encaustic. I drew inspiration for my textile pieces from ceremonial art by indigenous Amazonian artists and West African masks.  Feather imagery began to surface in the work and with it, a growing awareness about endangered birds, species extinction, habitat destruction and threats to bird migration. My earlier feminist artwork was supplanted by a growing body of ecological art made from recycled materials.
