My Small Works Collection seems to have struck a chord!
It seems that my Small Works Collection has truly resonated with people! These pieces have become my bestsellers, likely due to their appealing price point that makes them accessible to a wider audience.
“The inspiration behind this collection was to make my environmental art accessible to everyone who wishes to incorporate it into their lives. I believe that art should not only inspire but also be attainable for those who appreciate its beauty and message.”
This collection features new pieces that are miniature interpretations of artwork inspired by traditional women’s clothing, including Kimonos from South Korea and Japan, as well as Huipils handwoven by indigenous women in Mexico and Guatemala.
I recently completed two new mini Kimonos—one predominantly white and the other primarily black. Both pieces incorporate the long tail feathers that are a signature element of my work, but I’ve added curved feathers to the collars for a striking contrast. I personally believe they would look stunning displayed side by side, but I’ll let you decide how to showcase them!
Backstories
Some of the pieces in this collection have already debuted at exhibitions and I thought you might like to learn more about their provenance (history of the piece).
Two pieces in the Small Works Collection are Petit Kimono 1 and Rainbow Triangle 1 debuted at my solo exhibition Avianto, at the Joan Derryberry Gallery at Tennessee Tech University in the fall of 2023 in Cookeville, TN.
Petit Kimono 1 and Mini White Kimono 1 are part of my ongoing White Series. You can read more about that project in the link below.
Gold Feather Triangle 2 and Tiny White Huipil 1 are both available through imperfecta gallery. This gallery is located in Oregon City, OR, just south of Portand and featured artwork by women and minority creatives.
If you love these small pieces and want something similar, I would be delighted to make a special commission for you. Contact me here to discuss your custom project.
Rainbow Triangle and Plumas 1 were shown last year in New York City as part of the Follow the Thread fiber art festival sponsored by Arte Morbida Magazine.
Gold Circle is the last piece remaining from a series of 4 pieces that were inspired bythe Pyramid of the Sun and Moon in Mexico City. These small square pieces are built with small round feathers cut from leftover pieces of other work and thus part of my ongoing effort to recycle my own work.
The holiday season is here, and it’s the perfect time to choose something unique for yourself, your office, or a loved one. Original art makes an especially meaningful gift, particularly if you’re passionate about our environment and our beautiful, vulnerable bird species.
Prices range from $125 – $1500 for most of the pieces, and they are available for purchase online.
