This artwork is part of my ongoing Remnants series in which I use scraps of fabric from other larger projects. We all need to reduce our environmental footprint and this is my way of not adding to the waste stream. I used small rectangular pieces made from fiber, encaustic, paint and oilstick to create a quilt and tied them together with waxed linen. There is a a fringe of waxed linen and beads at the bottom of the piece. A wrapped stick anchors the piece at the top and evokes African masks.
