Redbreast is part of my ongoing Remnants series in which I use scraps of fabric from other larger projects. We all need to reduce our environmental footprint and this is my way of not adding to the waste stream. These feathers are made from fiber, encaustic, paint and oilstick and in this case, waxed linen and wire thread, which create a haze of texture over this piece which sports a red display on top, just like colorful plumage. A wrapped stick anchors the piece at the top and evokes African masks.
