Rapture 5 is part of a series of triangular pieces whose feathers are made from fiber, encaustic, paint and oilstick and in this case, waxed linen and wire thread, which create a haze of texture over this largely red piece. A wrapped stick anchors the piece at the top and evokes African masks.
