Vessels and baskets are a centuries old art form in Mexico. When Deborah first moved to Mexico, she found a women’s basket making collective in a tiny lakeside pueblo and commissioned various basket shapes that she eventually covered with feathers made from scraps from her other larger projects. All her feathers during this period were made from fiber, encaustic and paint. Feather Basket is also decorated with waxed linen and wire thread which forms a textured haze around the piece.
