Kansai

Although Deborah’s work is often characterized by intense color, she also gravitates to a quieter white palette.  Kansai is composed of mostly white feathers outlined in red. This piece  is based on the map of a state in Japan that has 41 species of endangered birds. These feathers are silk-screened on recycled plastic bags and if you look closely, you will see images of endangered birds and endangered languages.
