Inspired by the collage techniques from the African American Gees Bend Quilters, Deborah Kruger approached the Halcyon series in a completely new way. She composed sections of  Halcyon 3 and then assembled them into the finished composition. All the feathers are made from fiber, encaustic, oilstick and paint and three-dimensional  texture is added with waxed linen and wire thread.
