Devotional

Devotional is a mural sized piece created by cutting strips of my screen printed sheets of recycled plastic bags. There is also text in endangered languages. This piece is part of two series, one the mural series that started with Accidentals. The other is the white series, since this is a largely white piece with occasional vertical stripes in deep colors that echo an ikat technique common to weaving. I wanted to title the piece Devotional because it is my version of a prayer book dedicated to all the endangered birds we are losing.  Devotional was chosen for a 2023 exhibition in Venice as part of Deborah Kruger’s Arte Laguna Prize.
