Broken Mosaic Sculpture

Round Mosaic Sculpture made with shards that were used for my Broken floor installation. The shattered ceramic plates that decorate the sculpture are hand-painted with drawings of endangered birds and produced by the El Palomar ceramic factory in Tlaquepaque. Throughout history, shards of glass, textiles and ceramics tell us the story of the lost civilizations. By using the broken ceramics, I am hoping that viewers make the connection that soon our endangered birds may also be lost to us unless we take action now to save their habitats.
