AVIANTO: Kruger’s new solo exhibition opens at the Train Station, Chapala
The dream becomes a reality… When I first moved to Lake Chapala from Massachusetts and discovered the Train Station Museum. I used to sit in
Conflagration is based on a map of San Luis Potosi, a state in central Mexico, where there are many endangered birds. The bright colors follow topographic lines. In response to hearing about the fires burning out of control in the Amazon rainforests, the artist added a swath of flaming waxed linen and wire threads as an homage to the loss of even more already endangered species. This piece is built with feathers made from recycled plastic bags screen printed with images of endangered birds from Mexico and Colombia and overprinted with text in endangered indigenous languages.
Medium: Screen printing on recycled plastic bags, sewing, waxed linen thread, wire thread
